Reservation & Cancellation Policy
We want your fishing reservation to be clear from the beginning. Please review the booking, cancellation, weather and payment terms below before submitting your deposit.
By paying a reservation deposit, you acknowledge and accept the cancellation and payment terms shown on this page.
The Important Parts
50% of the reservation deposit is refunded.
25% of the reservation deposit is refunded.
Deposits become non-refundable within seven days.
Applies to unsafe weather, captain illness or mechanical problems.
Cancellation Refund Schedule
The refund amount is based on how many days before the first scheduled fishing day we receive the cancellation.
Party Boat Reservations
Party boat cancellations are non-refundable. Because larger private boats are reserved specifically for your group and date, deposits should be considered committed once the reservation is confirmed.
What Happens If the Charter Cannot Operate?
Captain Cancels the Trip
If the charter cannot safely or reasonably operate due to circumstances controlled by the captain or boat operator, you are protected.
- Captain illness
- Mechanical problems with the boat
- Stormy or dangerous weather conditions
- No charge for the affected fishing day
- Full refund for the affected day
- Rescheduling may be offered when availability allows
Angler Chooses to Go Despite Warning
If the captain recommends canceling because of unsafe or unfavorable weather and the customer chooses to continue, the trip becomes non-refundable.
- No refund if the customer insists on going
- This applies even if the trip returns early
- The captain has final responsibility for vessel safety
Rain Does Not Automatically Cancel a Fishing Trip
Rain alone is not considered grounds for cancellation. Along Costa Rica’s Central Pacific, rain can often occur as localized squalls that move through an area and then clear.
The captain evaluates actual sea conditions, wind, storms and safety. If the captain determines conditions are dangerous, the cancellation protection described above applies.
Deposits & Final Balance
A reservation deposit is required to confirm your fishing charter. The remaining balance is normally paid directly to the captain.
Your charter is considered confirmed after the required deposit has been received.
Pay the balance in cash on the fishing day, or on the first day when booking multiple fishing days. U.S. dollars or Costa Rican colones are accepted.
