When to fish in the area!

Dorador, or Mahi Mahi, can be fished year-round in Costa Rica, from May to September and then again from the Midle of October to December. The period from May to September coincides with Costa Rica’s winter, often called the rainy, low, or green season.

Not abundant, but an occasional Wahoo may be taken at any time. It can be caught between May and October while trolling for sailfish.

Yellowfin range in size from football-sized to 300 pounds, peak in schools in July and August, and in November and December.

This region has big roosters, and they can be caught virtually any month of the year. Some weigh nearly 100 pounds, but they average 30 pounds.

The best time to fish for sailfish in Quepos, Costa Rica, is from January to April, with December also being a prime month. This period is considered the peak season for sailfish in the region, offering excellent opportunities for anglers.

Marlin, Blue Marlin is the most common of the Marlins. peak in November and December, as well as March and April. Black Marlin are most abundant in July and August, and few Striped Marlin are around at the same time.
